Summer, Wheat and PU240 “Bombers”!
Welcome to summer!
I think it’s safe to say that we have begun the season of the sun. As you may recall, June is our anniversary month and as usual we celebrate with beer! Check out the specials above for details.
Summer also means Miner’s Wheat Ale. Always a welcome addition to the beer line-up, the 2010 Miner’s Wheat may look a little different. Last year we used a different strain of yeast that was meant to be left in suspension, yes…a HEFE wiezen. If you had a pint last year that was clear, you experienced “Flock out”, whereby the tricky little cells get cold, bunch together and drop out of the beer. Kind of hard to have a “Hefe” without the yeast! This year we changed the pesky strain out to my new favorite, Irish Ale yeast and filtered it. The malts and hops are the exact same!
On our actual 3rd birthday, June 21st, 2010, we will package our first bottled offering, PU240 Imperial IPA! 250 cases of 22 ounce “bombers” will be filled for sale here at the Alehouse and at a few select “Good Beer” stores! We brewed 3 batches in April and May and the “weapons grade ale” has been patiently resting on dryhops for the glorious occasion. I can tell you that this is by far the best batch we have produced.
If we have any bulk PU240 left I promise to release some on draught and not take it home for myself! Look for bottles and cases later that week!
Cheers!
