Hoppy Holidays!

Hoppy Holidays from the Auburn Alehouse!

Santa came a bit early this year (I guess we have been a good little brewery) and I am excited to report that the PU240 is scheduled to be tapped sometime tomorrow, Friday the 4th. Brewer Bill (aka Santa) stuffed the “weapons grade ale” into the #3 brite tank yesterday. Talk about a stocking stuffer, floating inside the pressurized vessel is 5#’s of fresh Simcoe hops because, apparently, the overwhelming aroma that fills the pub when we pulled any amount from the fermenter just wasn’t enough! It’s good folks!

Also making it’s debut on Friday is the new “Shanghai Cafe”, our Oatmeal Stout infused with locally roasted coffee from our friends over at Depot Bay Coffee here in Auburn!  Roastmaster Dion drum roasted a special blend for us and gave us some tips for cold-infusion brewing! I’m not talking about cold brewing the beer folks, we leave that to the marketing department of the BIG BLAND YELLOW BEER MANUFACTURERS!  We did a cold water infusion with the coarsely-ground beans, let it steep for a few days and then infused the cold coffee into the Shanghai Stout!  Only 5 barrels are available so stop by and treat yourself and loved ones to a pint!

As promised, on Thursday December 17th, at 5pm, we will tap the trifecta of Brewers’ Reserve Old Prospector Barleywine Ales! Sample and compare the 2007, 2008 and 2009 batches of OPBW. 15 bucks gives you 8 ounces of each, side by side to enjoy.  The vertical tasting will last through Sunday or until they sell out, whichever comes first…..void where prohibited….ask your doctor if Barleywine is right for you!

The entire Alehouse Staff wishes you a happy and safe holiday season!
